The vineyard was established in 1996 and the very first vintage was a limited production Shiraz in 1999. Since then, wine production has increased and each year sees new varieties introduced.
Joseph Brischetto, proprietor of Brischetto Vineyard, combines an Australian influence with his Sicilian grape-growing heritage. Joe was born in Fiumefreddo, Sicily in 1945 and like most Italian families in those days, his family grew and processed their own grapes. When Joe and his family moved to Australia in 1950, they carried with them a love and appreciation for wine and winemaking.
In 1996, the health of Joe’s father was deteriorating, and it was then he and his wife, Elizabeth decided to plant a small vineyard in his honour. They began with the planting of some Muscat Grapes, and from there, the vineyard thrived, and before long there were 12,000 vines. It was at this time that Joe decided to try his skills at winemaking. And so, it was then "Brischetto Wines" was born.

In the past few years, the winery has expanded and acquired more equipment, including holding tanks, a four-tonne press, and a labelling machine, which enables the processing of approximately 2,000 bottles an hour. The wine begins maturing in barrels made from French Oak, and today Brischetto Wines is the tenth largest wine producer in Queensland.
For the next few years, Brischetto Wines will continue production in Bargara, and then will be moved and reopened in Esk, located about an hour West of Brisbane. This way, Joe and Elizabeth can be closer to their four children, and grandchildren, who all live in Brisbane.
Early in 2007, Joe began to sponsor a full-time winemaker from France, and together with his knowledge, and Joe’s experience, they hope to continue to produce a highly desirable product.
